Safe, compliant installation
As a HETAS registered installer, Vale Chimneys carries out installations in accordance with current Building Regulations and relevant safety requirements.
We ensure the chimney and flue system are suitable for your appliance and that the installation is completed correctly. A carbon monoxide alarm is fitted as part of the installation in accordance with Building Regulations Approved Document J.

We can also carry out routine maintenance on your wood burner which may include replacing the fire rope, fire bricks, baffle plate, or glass. Please contact your stove manufacturer to order the genuine replacement parts, or contact us for advice.

Birds can build nests inside open chimney pots, creating blockages that can restrict the safe escape of smoke and fumes. Where removal is permitted, we can safely clear the nest and recommend a suitable bird guard or chimney cowl to help prevent the problem from happening again.

We can install a range of wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves, subject to the suitability of the property, chimney and proposed appliance. We can advise you on the most suitable option for your home.
Does every chimney need lining?
No, not every chimney needs lining. Whether a chimney requires a liner depends on its condition, construction, size and the type of appliance being installed. During a chimney inspection, we can assess the existing flue and advise whether a liner is required to ensure the chimney is safe and suitable for use. If lining is needed, we can recommend the appropriate type and provide a quotation as part of the installation.
Does my chimney need a liner for a stove?
In many installations, a suitable flue liner is required, particularly when connecting a stove to an existing chimney. The exact requirements depend on the appliance, chimney and installation. We can assess your chimney and advise on the appropriate solution.
Can you install a stove without an existing chimney?
Yes, it can be possible to install a stove in a property without a traditional chimney using a suitable twin-wall flue system. However, Vale Chimneys no longer carries out these types of installations.
If you are considering installing a stove without an existing chimney, we recommend using a HETAS registered installer who can assess your property and advise on the most appropriate and compliant installation.
How long does a stove installation take?
The time required depends on the type of stove, the condition of the chimney and the work involved. A straightforward installation can often be completed within a day, while installations requiring additional building work, such as alterations to the fireplace or installation of a hearth, may take longer.

Do I need a hearth for my stove?
Yes, a suitable hearth is required beneath a stove. The size and construction requirements depend on the appliance and installation. We can advise on the appropriate hearth for your chosen stove.
Can you install a stove in a fireplace?
Yes. Existing fireplaces can often be adapted to accommodate a wood-burning or multi-fuel stove. We will assess the fireplace, chimney and opening to determine what work is required.
Can you install a stove if my chimney has never been used?
Potentially, yes. An unused chimney should be assessed before connecting a stove. We can inspect the chimney and advise whether sweeping, lining, repairs or other work is required before installation.
Do I need ventilation when installing a stove?
Some stove installations require additional ventilation, depending on factors such as the appliance's heat output and the age of the property. We will assess the installation and advise you on any ventilation requirements.

Yes. We install both wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves, provided the chosen appliance is suitable for the property, chimney and intended heating requirements.
We always recommend arranging a free, no-obligation site survey before purchasing your stove. During the survey, we can assess the proposed installation and discuss suitable stove options with you.
It’s important to choose the right appliance for the location, as some stoves may not be suitable for a particular property or installation. Our advice can help ensure you choose a stove that is appropriate before making your purchase.
Can you supply the stove as well as install it?
Yes. We can supply a range of leading stove brands, including Parkray, Hunter, Stovax and Charnwood, with all stoves supplied by Vale Chimneys being Ecodesign compliant.
We can discuss your requirements and help you choose a stove that is suitable for your home and the proposed installation. We can also advise on the installation requirements for your chosen appliance before any work begins.
You are also welcome to purchase your own stove. However, we strongly recommend waiting until after your site survey before purchasing, as not every stove is suitable for every property or installation. This helps ensure your chosen appliance meets the necessary safety and installation requirements and can be installed at your property.
Will my stove installation be certified?
Yes. All stove installations carried out by Vale Chimneys are completed in accordance with the relevant Building Regulations and current safety requirements.
As a HETAS registered installer, we provide the appropriate HETAS certificate following completion of the installation, giving you confirmation that the work has been carried out to the required standards.
Can you replace an existing stove?
We can remove your existing stove and assess the chimney, flue and hearth before installing a replacement appliance. When fitting a new stove, we will install a new flue liner rather than connect to an existing liner installed by another company, as we cannot guarantee the standard of the original workmanship.
